The Design Process

Every client and every garden is different and whilst some may want a total redesign and rebuild, others may simply want to redesign a border. I am equally happy to help with either. The process consists of some or all of the following stages

Client Consultation

This is the first visit to see and discuss your garden. It is an important part of the process to establish a mutual understanding of what you want to achieve. I can offer advice and suggestions and give an indication of what design work will be necessary.

Site Analysis and Measurement

Once you have decided to proceed with the garden design service, I will carry out a full site survey and soil analysis.

Garden Layout Plan

I will produce an outline plan for discussion with you. Once agreed I will produce a full hand drawn scale plan of the proposed garden layout to include detailed drawings of any complex elements. This will be presented to you in person so that you have an opportunity to discuss it and understand it fully.

Planting Plan

I can also prepare a detailed planting plan and schedule to show the botanical names, quantity and recommended sizes of the trees, shrubs and plants for the new garden layout and for the physical conditions in your garden

Making it Happen

I can take on any aspect of this from putting you in contact with reputable landscapers, builders or specialists, to obtaining quotes on your behalf and monitoring the project.

Sourcing and Planting the Plants

You may wish to source the plants yourself, but I can do this for you and have very good working relationships with reputable plant suppliers. I will arrange for the planting to be done either by you, me or by the landscaper you have used, this includes preparing the soil to ensure that plants have the best possible start in their new home.

Maintenance

I will provide an information pack, explaining how the garden should be cared for to keep it looking its best.
